Welcome to the new KineticD web portal! This is our most exciting development, which includes more comprehensive Help files, a more user-friendly interface, and easier to use features.
For the KineticD web portal, in addition to a new, easier to use interface, we have also added several new features.
In addition to downloading individual files, the web portal can now download multiple files or folders in a Zip archive. As you browse through your files and folders, click on the download cart icon to add them to your download. Having everything in a single Zip file is a great way to download an arbitrary group of files.
Our new Web Photo Sharing feature will build you an instant photo album from a folder of files. When you are in a folder full of files, click Folder Sharing. One of the options is to share the folder as photos. No more uploading your pictures to photo sharing sites. Simply back up your photos, and they are shared automatically.
For the KineticD backup client, we have recently released the Block Out and the Backup Now features to help our users better manage their backups.
Block Out allows users to schedule their backups by pausing the client at certain times. For example, you can now Block Out the hours between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday, to make sure that the backup software is not slowing down your system during business hours. Every hour of the week is represented on the Block Out feature so you can choose your own backup schedule.
The Backup Now button overrides all Suspend features and Block Out times in order to back up the most current versions of you data immediately. Once the backup is complete, all previous settings will be restored. This enables you to have your important work backed up as soon as it's completed to make sure your valuable data is always safely stored on our servers.
The Exclude feature lets you pick certain file types that you do not want backed up no matter what. If there are files with a certain file extension that you never want backed up, you can add that extension using the Exclude feature and those files will not get backed up.
Our enhanced Restore Client now allows you to select which version of each file you wish to restore. The new software also includes an "Unattended Mode" where the restore will not stop if it encounters an error. Make sure you review the logs if you use this feature.
The Open File Driver allows you to backup files even when they are held open by another application.
