Before You Start
Verify your system is ready to accept connections by viewing the Remote tab in your
KineticD
options. Right click our icon (in the Windows taskbar notification area typically
in the bottom right corner of your pc), click "Options". Find the Remote tab and
select it to view your system and Windows username.
Starting Remote Desktop
To start using Remote Desktop from a remote computer:
- If your remote computer has the Online Backup client installed, right click our
icon (in the Window’s tray typically in the bottom right corner of your pc), click
"Remote Desktop".
- If your remote computer does not have the Online Backup client installed, logon
to the
KineticD
web site at
https://mydata.datadepositbox.com.
- Click on "Download" on the left side menu.
- Locate the icon for "Remote Desktop for Windows" and click on the link "Click here
to run on Windows"..
- When asked "Do you want to run or save this file?" click on Run.
- When Remote Desktop has started, enter the username and password for your
KineticD
account.
To start using Remote Desktop on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad:
- Go to the Apple iTunes App Store and download
KineticExtend (requires iOS 4.0 or later).
- Follow the instructions to install the KineticExtend App. When you launch KineticExtend
you will be asked to enter the username and password for your KineticD account.
Selecting the system you want to access
- When Remote Desktop has started, select the system you want to access from the drop-down
list.
- If no systems are available, logon to the
KineticD
web site at
https://mydata.datadepositbox.com and click on "Remote
Desktop" on the left side menu. Locate the system you want to access and make sure
that the box for Access Enabled is checked for that system. If the box is greyed-out,
contact your corporate administrator to enable access. Click on Update to save any
changes. The updated system should now appear in the drop-down list when you start
Remote Desktop.
- You will be asked for credentials when you connect.
