The Open File Driver allows you to backup files even when they are held open by another application.
For example, you can backup a MS Outlook PST file without the need to close the MS Outlook.
When the driver is installed, there is a change to how the application deals with versioning. The minimum time between versions of a file is increased to 12 hours. This is done to prevent multiple versions of a file being generated and backed up within a very short time period. Clicking 'Backup Now' from the status viewer will override this setting and take an immediate backup.
The driver is not installed by default. Click on the 'Open Files' tab and the following dialog is displayed.
To Install the Open File Driver:
Click "Intsall Open File Driver". After the installation is complete, click "Apply" and "OK".
After the install, the following dialog is displayed.
To Uninstall the Open File Driver:
Click "Remove Open File Driver". After you click the uninstall button, you need to restart your computer manually to completely remove the Driver off your system.
