You may notice the status viewer saying "Backup is up to date, open files pending" or "some files are delayed". This means that the backup software tried to backup a file but it was still locked by an application (for example, while you are using it). The software has skipped the file for now and will continue to watch it. As soon as it becomes free, it will be backed up.
Skipping a file is not as serious as you might first think. With other products that perform scheduled backups, if you miss a file you must wait for the next scheduled backup. With our continuous backup, an open file will be automatically queued for backup as soon as it becomes free.
You can avoid skipping a file by installing the Open File Driver. The driver allows you to backup files even when they are held open by another application. For more information, please refer to the Open File Driver section of this guide.
