Cannot see mapped drive when running Windows Vista

Windows Vista does not let other programs like KineticD to have access to mapped drives. This is because the User Account Control in Vista treats Administrator users as a standard user. Therefore, KineticD does not have access to the Mapped Drive since standard user access token is used instead of the full administrator access token. To be able to see the Mapped Drive, you have to add a registry key and to do so please follow the instructions below.

Warning! Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system.

1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

2. Locate and then right-click the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

3. Click on Edit and then New, and then click DWORD Value.

4. Type EnableLinkedConnections, and then press ENTER.

5. Right-click EnableLinkedConnections, and then press Modify.

6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
